Intended purpose

An alternating-pressure mattress system is a medical support surface that uses an electric pump to alternately inflate and deflate air cells, reducing sustained pressure on the skin to prevent and treat pressure ulcers. These systems are designed for high-risk patients with limited mobility, often used in home care or hospitals, and come as either mattress overlays or full mattress replacements.
