Intended purpose
An electroacoustic device that evaluates the acoustic impedance/admittance of the human ear by means of acoustic probe signals. The practical use of this instrument involves measuring the changes in acoustic impedance/admittance caused either by varying the air pressure in the external acoustic meatus or by activating the middle ear muscle reflex. The results from measuring the middle ear impedance are displayed on a chart called a tympanogram
