Intended purpose

A hearing aid is an electronic, battery-operated device that amplifies and changes sound to allow for improved communication. Sound is received though a microphone, which then converts the sound waves to electrical signals. An amplifier increases the loudness of the signals and then transmits the sound through a speaker in to the ear canal. The main section of the Behind-the-Ear hearing instrument is worn behind the ear. It is connected to a plastic earmould that fits in the outer ear.
