Intended purpose

A device that is attached to a dedicated handpiece for insertion into the eye for the delivery of the energy (e.g.,ultrasonic, piezoelectric) provided from the generator for the purposes of performing phacoemulsification (a procedure for the liquefying and removal of the opaque lens nucleus in cataract surgery). This will be attached to a dedicated handpiece and may facilitate or support the irrigation/suction systems needed for the removal of the debris. It is a reusable device.
