Swan-Ganz CCOV CCO/CEDV Thermodilution Catheter - Catheter, cardiac, balloon, thermal dilution

Device Dossier for Swan-Ganz CCOV CCO/CEDV Thermodilution Catheter - Catheter, cardiac, balloon, thermal dilution (Catheter, cardiac, balloon, thermal…

Intended purpose

The CCOV CCO/CEDV catheter is for use in a critical care environment for adult and paediatric patients who require haemodynamic monitoring. It is to be used with clinical pressure monitoring equipment to measure right heart and pulmonary artery pressures, and with a compatible cardiac output computer to continuously measure cardiac output. It also measures mixed venous oxygen saturation and volumetric parameters, including right ventricular ejection fraction and end diastolic volume.

Functional description

The Swan-Ganz CCOV CCO/CEDV catheter is a balloon tipped catheter that is inserted into a large vein and floated into the pulmonary artery. The balance between oxygen delivery and consumption can be continuously assessed through fibreoptic measurements of mixed venous oxygen saturation (SvO2), as well as continuous thermodilution cardiac output measurement (CCO). The catheter is made from medical grade PVC designed to soften in vivo.
