- GMDN category: Cervical total disc replacement prosthesis
Intended purpose
Internal disc replacement prosthesis. It has a mobile nucleus. It is designed to restore movement in an affected disc space and is anteriorally placed
Functional description
Baguera C is used to replace a degenerated disc and restore the vertebral height while maintaining the mobility at the treated level. It is made of two titanium endplates and a polyethylene inlay shaped to fit within the dome-shaped inner part of the upper plate. The inlay acts as the “ball” and the concave-shape of the upper endplate acts as the “socket”. It allows a physiological range of motion with regard to flexion/extension, rotation and lateral bending (“Ball & socket” concept).
