Device Dossier for HMRS Tibial Joint - Coated knee tibia prosthesisl (Coated knee tibia prosthesis, Class III, sponsor Stryker). ARTG record, intended…

Intended purpose

A tibial joint component of the Modular Replacement System, intended for use in patients requiring extensive reconstruction of the knee joint, necessitated by extensive bone loss due to trauma, failed previous prosthesis and/or tumor resection.

Functional description

The tibial joint component of the Howmedica Modular Resection System consists of a stem and two long flanges, one medial and one lateral. These are moulded against the tibia and retained by means of a barr-bolt. This bolt goes through the stem and provides locking of the prosthesis in extension. Suitable for use on both the right and left knees. A madreporique finish provides a site for soft tissue attachment and extra cortical bone bridging. Manufactured from Vitallium Alloy.
