Intended purpose

Audio Processor for MED-EL cochlear implant and auditory brainstem implant systems, used to evoke auditory sensation.

Functional description

External component of the CI system, worn behind the ear or on the body, supports electrical & acoustic stimulation. The audio processor includes the control unit with earhook attached, battery pack, coil & coil cable. The coil is held in place by magnetic attraction to the implant. Batteries provide sufficient power for both the external and the implanted electronics. Multiple colour options available.
