Intended purpose
The sound processor is intended to be used in combination with other devices as part of a hearing implant system to provide hearing sensation. The sound processor converts sounds into electrical signals, which it sends to an implant. The sound processor also provides power to the implant.
Functional description
The Kanso 3 Sound Processor (CP1170 and CP1175) is the external battery powered sound processing unit for compatible cochlear implants. It provides power and digitised audio signals to the cochlear implant via an built-in inductive coil. The device is an off-the-ear (OTE) unit that sits over and attaches to the implant via an integrated coupling magnet.
