- GMDN category: Collagen dental regeneration membrane
Intended purpose
The Resorbable Collagen Membrane is used in Guided Tissue Regeneration and Guided Bone Regeneration procedures. It ensures its physical barrier function avoiding the colonization of the bone defect by soft tissue cells for 12 weeks, thus allowing complete healing of the surgical site. Its total resorption time is 24 weeks. The Resorbable Collagen Membrane is indicated in the treatment of dental bone defects and to treat Stage III and IV of periodontal diseases.
Functional description
The Resorbable Collagen Membrane is a cross-linked collagen membrane made from type I and III collagen fibers purified from the porcine dermis. Once implanted, it creates a physical barrier at the surgical site to prevent the colonization of the underlying bone site by soft tissue cells (connective and epithelial) while allowing the diffusion of biological fluids. As the membrane is naturally resorbable, there is no need for a second surgical intervention to remove it.
