A device that is dedicated for the use of distending the peritoneal cavity by filling the cavity with a gas and maintaining the gas-filled space with, e.g. nitrogen, to facilitate viewing the internal organs with a laparoscope. This will also assist in providing the operator with more room in which to carry out an intervention
