Intended purpose
A device made of a shaft of metal with an obtuse, v-shaped, cutting edge, which when rotated at the appropriate speed, will cut into bone (for dental implants) creating a hole of the same dimension as the diameter of the bit. This device, commonly called a "twist drill", has a cylindrical design with a double edged cutting head that is formed from two spiralled flutes that extend the length of the insertion part of the drill. At the proximal end its shaft is mounted into a surgical drilling machine, either manual or powered. It is typically made of a high-grade stainless steel alloy and comes in varying sizes. This is a reusable device.
