Intended purpose

A device that is made up of a power hand piece and can include an attachment to change the operation of the handpiece to allow for specific actions such as drilling, reaming, cutting etc which may also include speed reduction gears to control speed. The system may be powered by, e.g. air, nitrogen, electricity or a battery. The system also includes accessories required for operation of the power handpiece including battery chargers, air hoses, power leads, foot switches and control consoles. A variety of cutting tools including saw blades (oscillating, reciprocating, sagittal etc.), drill bits (cannulated, solid etc.) and burs are supplied for use with this system. This flexible configuration allows the system to be used in a number of different surgical procedures.
