Nicolet Cortical Stimulator Probe - Electrode, cortical
Device Dossier for Nicolet Cortical Stimulator Probe - Electrode, cortical (Electrode, cortical, Class III, sponsor Natus Neuro). ARTG record, intended…
- GMDN category: Electrode, cortical
Intended purpose
The Nicolet Cortical Stimulator Probe is used with the Nicolet Cortical Stimulator to support electrical stimulation of the brain surface for diagnostic purposes. It is intended for use in functional brain mapping procedures during treatment of patients with seizure disorder or brain tumors, providing stimulation via the bipolar probe.
Functional description
A portable unit that aids in indentification and mapping of the areas of the brain that control speech, sensory, vision and motor skills. The Probe is a part of the Nicolet Cortical Stimulator that enhances a physician’s ability to conduct cortical stimulation studies during surgical evaluations for epilepsy and tumors. An electrical current is applied directly to the cortex using the probe. The NicoletOne system records EEG signals directly from the cortex via intracranial electrodes.
