Intended purpose

A system used in general electrosurgery that generates a high frequency current between an active and a neutral electrode to produce a heating effect causing tissue disruption used for cutting and coagulating soft body tissue during surgery (device/method commonly known as ESU/surgical diathermy). The system typically comprises, e.g., a generator with monitoring functions, single use/reusable electrode hand piece unit and electrodes, connecting cables, footswitch.
