Intended purpose

The CONMED electrosurgical diathermy system is used in general electrosurgery to generate either monopolar or bipolar high frequency current between an active and a neutral electrode, to produce a heating effect causing tissue disruption used for cutting and coagulating of tissue. When used with compatible vessel sealing devices, it is also indicated for the ligation and division of tissue bundles, lymphatics and vessels in open and laparoscopic procedures. The system comprises an electrosurgical generator, optional cart, reusable cables and a footswitch. The system may be located on a cart or may be boom-mounted.
