TiLENE - Extra-gynaecological surgical mesh, synthetic polymer, non-bioabsorbable

Intended purpose

TiLENE® Mesh is indicated for use in the reinforcement of soft tissue where weakness exists, such as in the repair of inguinal hernia.

Functional description

Large-pore, non-absorbable mesh made from monofilament polypropylene thread with surrounding titanized coating. The mesh structure serves as matrix for the ingrowing of stromal cells resulting in adsorption of a thin fibrous tissue layer, whose cells grow through pores in the mesh fabric, results in the complete enclosure of the mesh material by the patient’s own tissue. The size of mesh selected should ensure that the defect is sufficiently overlapped (normally ~ 5 cm on each side).
