Intended purpose

This device is a first aid kit designed to be used by first responders on beaches or in rescue vessels for victims of shark attack to treat life threatening haemorrhage injuries due to blood loss and associated conditions such as trauma induced hypothermia. The kit is designed as a first response to sustain the life of a victim of severe life threatening bleeding until care can be handed over to appropriate professional responders, eg paramedics for evacuation to the nearest appropriate Trauma Ward. Life threatening bleeding treatment is time critical and rapid first response is essential to increase survival rates. The kit is set out to be intuitive and follows the latest Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
