Intended purpose
A small plug or cover used to seal the proximal end of an intramedullary nail after it has been implanted. The device designed to prevent healing bone from growing inside the hollow nail, implanted to treat bone that has been damaged. It may also be used to help extend the length of a nail when necessary. It may be used with trochanteric, femoral, humeral, supracondylar or tibial nails.
