Intended purpose

A long, thin, metal rod used to assit with correct placement of other surgical devices. The rod is inserted into the canal to typically guide a surgical instrument (e.g., a reamer) and the implantable device. This device is made of non-biodegradable metal and may come in a variety of sizes, lengths, and designs (e.g., round-tip, trocar-tip, or flexible-tip).
