Intended purpose

BTEA device, which is an electronic assistive device where all of the components, except for the Receiver and the earmould are contained in a case worn behind the ear. The intended purpose of this type of hearing instrument is to amplify sound according to the individual needs of the user, and it does this by, a) receiving sound from the environment, b) translating the sound into a digital sequence of data and then c) modifying the digital sequence of data to provide the optimum amplification according to a unique algorithm that provides the most benefit to the individual user, before d) turning the digital signal back into a sound signal that can be heard by and assist the user. In the case Receiver in the Ear (RITE) Hearing instruments the receiver is enclosed in a case which is attached via a wire inside the tube to the main part of the hearing aid which is worn behind the ear.
