- GMDN category: Hearing aid fitting/programming application software
Intended purpose
An individual software program intended to add specific processing and analysis capabilities to a computer in order to enable a healthcare professional to program a hearing aid, typically during the fitting process, according to patient-specific requirements (e.g., from mild to severe hearing loss). It is typically installed on an ordinary off-the-shelf computer which when connected to the hearing aid via a programming interface (cable or wireless) allows the user to make a variety of acoustic settings (e.g., volume, compression, feedback cancelling). It may also measure hearing loss via test stimuli presented directly from the hearing aid.
