Intended purpose

The HME Booster Heater is used in conjunction with the Hygrovent Gold or the HME Booster T-piece to add heat and humidity to gases used for artificial respiration, either in the Intensive Care Unit or during anaesthesia (unless the anaesthetic mixture is flammable). The principle of operation is to heat up a small amount of water close to the patient and HME to create conditions to improve temperature, relative humidity and absolute humidity of air to be inspired. A special membrane in the disposable device allows water in vapour only to be administered to the air to be inspired.
