Intended purpose

The Internal paddles are used in conjuction with Internal Handles with discharge control and are specifically designed for open chest cardiac defibrillation. The Internal paddles connect directly to the handles with discharge control by a cam locking mechanism.

Functional description

When the internal handles are connected to the internal paddles and the external defibrillator, the energy selection is automatically limited to 50 joules because of possible cardiac damage from higher energies.
