Intended purpose
A device used to serve in heart and thorax surgery as an electrical conductor to transfer manually released shock impulses from a compatible corpuls defibrillator to the patient.
Functional description
The shock spoon electrodes are connected via a shock spoon holder and cable to a defibrillator. The shock spoons are used in pairs with one positioned on either side of the heart muscle. Electrical energy is passed through the shock spoon from the defibrillator to the open heart muscle to intentionally start or stop the heart during open-thorax surgical interventions.
