Intended purpose
A device intended to be implanted permanently in the space in the eye that is bounded anteriorly by the cornea and a small portion of the sclera and posteriorly by a small portion of the ciliary body, the iris, and the part of the crystalline lens that presents through the pupil. The lens is inteded to replace the natural human lens. It is typically made of plastic and is implanted in the anterior chamber of the eye subsequent to either an intra or extra capsular extraction.
