The Prodisc L is a modular intervertebral disc prosthesis. Prodisc L implants utilize a ball and socket articulation design of metal on ultra-high molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). To achieve a physiological range of motion in regard to flexion/extension, rotation, and lateral bending, the devices follow the principle of a ball and socket joint with a fixed center of rotation
