A sterile, manual, hand-held ophthalmic surgical instrument designed to expel (inject) a prepared folded intraocular lens (IOL) from an attached IOL insertion cartridge, in order to implant the IOL into the anterior or posterior chamber of the eye, during ophthalmic surgery. This device is intended to carefully exert pressure on the prepared IOL and to push it out of the IOL insertion cartridge into either the anterior chamber or posterior chamber of the eye. It is typically made of plastic materials and has a central plunger that is activated by a precise mechanism that can be a screw thread, simple push mechanism, or both. This is a single-use device.
