Intended purpose

The Artisan 2 x 8 Surgical Lead functions as a component of the PRECISION Spinal Cord Stimulation System (SCS) which is used in the management of chronic intractable pain. This lead delivers electrical stimulation to the nerve structures in the dorsal aspect of the spinal cord which results in inhibition of pain sensation

Functional description

The distal (paddle) end of the lead has two columns of 8 platinum electrodes which are used to deliver electrical stimulation to nerve structures within the spinal cord once the lead is implanted. The lead has two tails-each of which has 8 platinum/iridium ring contacts which enable the lead to be connected to the IPG
