Intended purpose

Indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation including cardiovascular, surgery, neurosurgery and ophthalmic procedures including microsurgery.

Functional description

Synthetic non absorbable suture composed of polyamide 6 or polyamide 6.6. Available in a range of gauge sizes and lengths, attached to stainless steel needles of varying types and sizes. These sutures elicit a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by a gradual encapsulation of the sutures by fibrous connective tissue. While polyamide is not absorbed, progressive hydrolysis of the polyamide in vivo may result in gradual loss over time of tensile strength.
