Intended purpose

A single-use, rigid or semi-rigid tube that is inserted into the eye to facilitate irrigation and aspiration of the interior of the eye during ophthalmic surgery, or to maintain integrity of the eye globe before, during and after ophthalmic surgery. It can be a dual lumen or a single lumen device that is attached to a handpiece or it can be a one-piece interchangeable device that connects to a parent device or devices used to perform irrigation/aspiration functions, as well as manually-operated devices. It is used in many anterior segment procedures, including cataract extraction.
