Ophthalmic cannula, irrigation/aspiration, non-illumiating, single-use

Intended purpose

A sterile, rigid or semi-rigid tube (non-illuminating) designed to be inserted into the eye to facilitate simultaneous irrigation and aspiration of the interior of the eye during ophthalmic surgery. It can be a dual or a single lumen device that is attached to a suitable hand-piece or it can be a one-piece interchangeable device that connects to a parent device or devices used to perform irrigation/aspiration functions (e.g., phacoemulsification or vitrectomy systems), as well as manually-operated devices (e.g., a hanging intravenous (IV) bag and a syringe). It is used in many anterior segment procedures, including cataract extraction.
