Intended purpose
Agili-C implant is indicated for the treatment of articular cartilage and/or osteochondral defects in patients who suffer from chondral or osteochondral lesions of the knee.
Functional description
The Agili-C Implant consists of calcium-carbonate in a crystalline form (aragonite). This material provides a 3-dimensional structure with the mechanical properties and high interconnected macroporosity required for vascular tissue ingrowth. The implant is press fit in to subchondral bone and following its positioning the implant integrates in to host bone. The implant provides a scaffold for bone remodelling, and is degraded and replaced by new bone.
