Intended purpose

VitalStim Plus system is used to apply various modes of electrical stimulation transcutaneously in treating patients with oral-pharyngeal dysfunctions(dysphagia) and disorders of the head and neck. Used for muscle re-education by application of external stimulation to the muscles necessary for pharyngeal contraction. Also used to determine the activation timing of muscles for retraining of muscle activation & co-ordinating of muscle activation. Provides an indication of the force produced by muscles for control and maintenance of muscle contractions - used in relaxation muscle training & muscle re-education.
