- GMDN category: Polyolefin/fluoropolymer suture, monofilament
- Sponsor: B Braun
Intended purpose
Optilene is indicated for soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, when surgical practice requires the use of a nonabsorbable suture material. Optilene sutures are also for use in cardiovascular surgery and neurosurgical procedures, where the low thrombogenic properties of polypropylene have a positive influence on wound healing. Other indications for Optilene include microsurgery and opthalmology.
Functional description
Optilene is a sterile, non-absorbable, monofilament surgical suture material produced from polypropylene and polyethylene.
