Device Dossier for Arcos Modular Revision Hip System Bowed Slotted Distal Stem - Press-fit hip femur prosthesis, modular (Press-fit hip femur prosthesis,…

Intended purpose

Porous coated titanium alloy slotted distal femoral stem intended for use as one component of the Arcos modular hip revision system. Indications for use: Non-inflammatory degenerative joint disease including osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis; rheumatoid arthritis; correction of functional deformity; treatment of non-union, femoral neck fracture, and trochanteric fractures of the proximal femur with head involvement, unmanageable using other techniques; revision of previously failed total hip arthroplasties. Intended for uncemented use only

Functional description

The bowed, coronal slotted distal femoral stem design matches the natural anatomy of the femur to reduce the risk of anterior impingement, allowing for extended distal fixation and a gradual separation from the cortex to reduce thigh pain. Titanium alloy PPS coated; intended for uncemented use. Roller hardened taper; packaged with locking screw. Used with Biomet Type 1 taper modular heads and compatible acetabular shells/liners and screws.
