Intended purpose
Interlok titanium alloy splined tapered distal femoral stem intended for use as one component of the Arcos modular hip revision system. Indications for use: Non-inflammatory degenerative joint disease including osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis; rheumatoid arthritis; correction of functional deformity; treatment of non-union, femoral neck fracture, and trochanteric fractures of the proximal femur with head involvement, unmanageable using other techniques; revision of previously failed total hip arthroplasties. Intended for uncemented use only
Functional description
Non-coated, splined, tapered stem, for use particularly when defect superior to femoral bow. Splined to maximise rotational stability; grit blasted for biologic fixation. 3 deg taper transfers load from proximal to distal femoral portion, reducing stress shielding. 190 mm stem design includes anterior relief to reduce risk of anterior impingement. Diameter 1 mm larger than indicated on packaging to allow for press-fit beyond reamed diameter. Packaged with locking screw. For uncemented use.
