Intended purpose

twinSys long uncemented stems are designed for treating diseased hip joints for primary and revision surgery. Indications for use are: - Degenerative disease of the joint, such as primary or secondary coxarthritis - Advanced loss of substance and / or functional loss of the hip joint caused by degenerative or post-traumatic arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis - Avascular necrosis of the femoral head or fracture of the femoral neck - After failed previous surgery, osteosynthesis, joint reconstruction, arthrodesis, hemi-arthroplasty or total hip replacement - Revisions with slight bone loss

Functional description

The twinSys uncemented long stem is manufactured from Ti6Al4V and coated in hydroxyapatite. It has a triple tapered shape to creates shear forces that are converted into compressive forces that lower the risk of post‐operative subsidence. The design enables a natural proximal force distribution in the bone through the previously compressed cancellous tissue. The stem has a proximal collar and a distal slot to enhance fixation in cases of minimal loss of metaphyseal bone but an intact diaphysis.
