Intended purpose
Ocular Gas Endotamponades are used as a mid-t tamponade after operative treatment of severe retinal detachment in cases of proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR), retinal detachments with giant tears, detachments without proliferation or in case of proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), traumatic retinal detachments, macular holes and macular edema. Silicone oil as an ocular endotamponade is used in severe cases of retinal detachment which cannot be treated with other forms of therapy in cases of severe proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR}, traumatic retinal detachment, giant tears of the retina.
