Intended purpose

A tool, which can be considered a surgical instrument, with a shaft having one end designed to fit into a screw head in order to apply torque either to tighten the screw or to remove the screw. The end design may be, e.g. single slot, cross slot, Phillips, Allen or six-lobed star. The other end of the shaft may have a handle for manual use, or may have a triangular section for fitting into a chuck with a handle, or allow use of a power driver. The device may include a torque measuring gauge.
