Intended purpose
Spinal puncture and injection of liquid drugs into the subarachnoid space.
Functional description
Spinal needle used in regional anaesthesia involving injection of a local anaesthetic into the subarachnoid space, generally through a fine needle, usually 3.8cm to 12cm long. The tip of the spinal needle has a point or small bevel. The quincke needle is a sharp, beveled, hollow needle. Quincke-Babcock needle is a medium-gauge cannula with a short, sharp bevel and matching stylet, with the tip ground to match the bevel of the cannular.
