Device Dossier for Penta 3mm Lead - Electrode/lead, stimulator, implantable, neurological (Stimulator, electrical, analgesic, spinal cord, Class III,…
- GMDN category: Stimulator, electrical, analgesic, spinal cord
Intended purpose
Penta 3mm leads are indicated for spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in the treatment of chronic pain of the trunk and limbs, either as the sole mitigating agent or as an adjunct to other modes of therapy used in a multi-disciplinary approach. The device model 3228 is MR conditional.
Functional description
The Penta lead is designed for spinal cord stimulation (SCS) to aid in the treatment of chronic, intractable pain. SCS is a method of pain control that uses low-intensity electrical impulses to stimulate nerve fibres within the spinal cord, often inhibiting chronic pain messages from reaching the brain. The Penta lead consists of plate-type electrodes embedded in a silicone paddle.
