Intended purpose

The device functions as part of the Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) Systems as an aid in the management of chronic intractable pain.

Functional description

The device delivers electrical stimulation to the nerve structures in the dorsal aspect of the spinal cord, resulting in an inhibition of pain sensation. Each lead has eight electrode contacts located near the distal end. The triple layers of the lead are engineered to work together to cancel the RF energy that causes heat under the labelled MRI conditions for use.
