Intended purpose

Used in surgical procedures to assist in the control of capillary, venous and small arterial bleeding, when ligation or other conventional methods of control are impractical or ineffective.

Functional description

Sterile absorbable fibrous material prepared by controlled oxidation of regenerated cellulose. Surgicel Fibrillar is strong and can be cut or pulled apart, allowing use of any amount needed to achieve haemostasis. Once saturated with blood, product swells into a brownish or black gelatinous mass which aids in the formation of a clot.
