POLYSORB - Suture, absorbable

Intended purpose

POLYSORB sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation or ligation and ophthalmic surgery, but not in cardiovascular or neural tissue.

Functional description

Polysorb polyester sutures elicit a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues, followed by gradual encapsulation of the sutures by fibrous connective tissue. Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength without appreciable loss of mass. Absorption of polysorb sutures is essentially complete within 56th and 70th day.
