- GMDN category: Suture, poliglecaprone
Intended purpose
Indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, but not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues, microsurgery or ophthalmic surgery.
Functional description
Sterile synthetic absorbable monofilament suture prepared from a copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone. These sutures elicit a minimal, acute, inflammatory reaction in tissues, and ingrowth of fibrous connective tissue. Progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption occurs by means of hydrolysis. Absorption is essentially complete between 91 and 119 days.
