Intended purpose

Mersilene suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures.

Functional description

Mersilene suture is a sterile, synthetic, non-absorbable surgical suture. It is available in undyed or dyed green to enhance visibility in the surgical field. The suture elicits an initial minimal inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue.
