The intended purpose of a gravity drainage system is to remove unwanted fluid, blood, or air from a surgical site or body cavity by using gravity. These passive systems channel fluids away from the body to facilitate healing, prevent infection by eliminating dead space and potential fluid buildup, and are commonly used after various surgeries. This is a single patient use item.
