Intended purpose
The implant is a component of the e.motion® System which is indicated for patients requiring primary or revision surgery. It is used as a component part of a human knee endoprosthesis in combination with e.motion mobile bearing knee endoprosthetic components. Indications: Severe knee joint conditions that cannot be treated through other therapies: - Degenerative osteoarthritis - Rheumatoid arthritis - Posttraumatic arthritis - Symptomatic knee instability - Knee stiffness - Deformation of the knee joint The surgeon can select the optimum solution for the patient from the various implant types of the knee systems, according to the severity of the condition. The surgeon is responsible for correctly establishing the indication.
Functional description
e.motion® FP is made from CoCrMo alloy with an Advanced Surface (AS) coating. It is a floating platform concept to preserve the posterior cruciate ligament and the collateral ligaments and restore the natural kinematics. The floating platform concept combines axial rotation of ±15° with controlled antero-posterior translation. For cemented implantation, the e.motion® FP prosthesis provides optimal surface roughness for a strong interface between implant and bone cement.
