JOURNEY II Unicompartmental Knee OXINIUM Femoral Implant - Uncoated unicondylar knee femur prosthesis

Intended purpose

Unicompartmental knee implants are indicated for restoring either compartment of a knee that has been affected by the following: • Noninflammatory degenerative joint disease including osteoarthritis, traumatic arthritis, or avascular necrosis; and • Partial revisions to replace the tibial insert of the previously implanted JOURNEY II UK knee in the case the femoral and tibial components are well-fixed. Unicompartmental knee implants are single use only and are intended for implantation only with bone cement.

Functional description

The femoral implant is designed to mimic the femoral condyle’s normal, anatomic shape with a gentle anterior bend toward the trochlear notch. It is made from Oxinium (Oxidized Zirconium) and is grit blasted with three planar resections and two fixation lugs to provide a uniform, cement interface. The cemented femoral implant articulates with a polyethylene tibial insert in a metal tibial baseplate.
